Re: Locating Bait Fish - Q&A

Good info, Jim... Chase: the timing with my rig is like this- I have the net bundled in hand ready to throw standing at the helm while idling around looking... when a big bait cloud comes on the screen I bump the boat into neutral and hop up on the rear casting deck. when the leading edge of the clo...

Re: Locating Bait Fish - Q&A

Chase, Learning to find and net bait effectively is definitely THE main factor in striper success as you have seen, and it can also be the most rewarding (and frustrating) part of the whole deal. There is going to be great variation in techniques, locations, etc between the different lakes/regions, ...

Re: Riviera Planer Spread

Very interesting stuff and a great new contribution to the Soup. Like Chef, I have been considering experimenting with a setup like this but just haven't gotten to putting it on the water. Also curious about the very long 'leader' length. I would like to try scaling down this setup just a bit for wo...

Re: Recomended Artificial lures

That is a great video and an awesome trolling setup Robert! I have extremely limited time to fish these days and have learned that trolling artificials is a fun, productive, and efficient way to get a few fish in the boat when you just don't have time to manage bait. I usually pull a buffet of lures...

Congrats Chef!! That is an absolute BEAST of a striper and I can only imagine how that must have felt when you got your first look at her alongside the boat  I remember your quest for the 50 + going back to the old Soup.... AWESOME way to upgrade your PB!

Re: Mid GA striper/hybrid DNR meeting

Ok here's the lowdown on what happened at the meeting. They started a presentation about the effects of the stocking program in the greater Altamaha drainage first and were IMMEDIATEDLY interrupted by three angry bass fisherman shaking their fists and literally shouting that stripers in Sinclair and...

Mid GA striper/hybrid DNR meeting

Hey guys, just found out (really late) that the DNR meeting for public input on the striper/hybrid stocking programs in our middle GA lakes is tonight 6-8pm at the Plant Branch conference room. If any of you guys can get there and help us try to revive our situation please do so....as Shawn said, it...

Re: Where's the bait?

Randy: In my experience the shad will go shallow with the dropping temps this time of year on our middle Ga lakes, and I'm pretty sure it happens up there as well. Try looking up in the backs of creeks at the edge of pockets where there is a nearby channel dropoff. Look for shad flipping and/or dist...
