Re: Soup Dudes Tarpon Jump

That was the bridge going to Lovers Key and our backs are to the gulf. The other tarpon was caught at the Sanibel bridge. Saw a bunch of tarpon at the above bridge but didn't have bait when we saw the most. Did catch a bunch of mangrove snapper at that bridge as well.

Re: Soup Dudes Tarpon Jump

Awesome! One video I saw on the GA coast said that the average was 1 tarpon landed for every 7 jumped (hooked). I've guess we've had a little luck to have landed 2 at Ft Myers Beach and only lost 1. Nothing nearly as big as the one in the video, but still fun on 20# big game. Like their smaller look...

Re: Few GA coast gators

That would be crazy stuff. Do you wear gloves when hauling the cord in? Jimmy was wearing gloves, but dad and I opted to not wear any. I think the first year we went I used gloves, but once you get a cord in them they really don't make a mad dash. Mainly a bunch of head/tail shaking. Once we get th...

Few GA coast gators

It's been 4 years since I personally had a tag, but this was my 4th trip after gators. My dad and a buddy, Jimmy, also had tags so off we went in search of gators in zone 7 near Derian on the Altamaha River on 9/16. Started hunting after 11P and hooked our first gator with snagging equipment shortly...

Florida smorgasbord - LONG post!

Took our 3rd annual trip to Ft Myers Beach, FL with another family for a week of sand and sun at a nice rental house. Have always fished from the beach catching cats and other small stuff on squid, but this year we wanted to rent a pontoon. Headed out of the marina on the bay side of the island and ...

Great pictures Dustin!

What kind of shoes are those? Look pretty useful considering the oysters and the mud.

Re: Keep all hands, feet, and TM cables in the boat ...

Funny story and picture Mike! These events actually happened on the Coosawattee River. If you notice in the picture you can see part of chainsaw case and sawdust. We only had to cut on one tree, but we got the saw stuck for about 30 min. This was certainly a trip I won't forget anytime soon. ...

Love to hear the rest of that story..... Guess you have an excuse for an iPilot upgrade :D You mean you want to hear the part of the story where I used up all the gas since I didn't have the TM and that we had to float another 1.5 miles back to the ramp.   At least we wer...

Jim, not sure if I missed it in your post, but have you tried the rubberband piece on the hook to keep the bait from sliding up the hook?

Re: Another jetting the Chattahoochee video...

After getting the new bottom on we're still putting everything back together and we may have drilled into the cable going from the controls to the motor. Juice is going to the motor and it ran intermittanly, but now it won't turn over. Hopefully a new cable fixes it. Boats are great when every...

The plastic is pieced together. The shiny looking piece along the bottom of the picture is the old plastic which didn't have much damage in the front of the boat.

Unfortunately, I fish that river quite a bit in the summer.

Re: Another jetting the Chattahoochee video...

Barry, our Snyder does have the 190 and on top of that we orginally had 1/2" UHMW. It lasted for 9 years, but we just replaced most of it with 3/4" except for the last 2' in the back which is now 1". Bring it on rocks! The metal was dented, but not too bad. We filled in the dents with an expensive f...

Re: Another jetting the Chattahoochee video...

Glad to hear the bed liner stuff is staying on. We actually just replaced most of the UHMW after 9 years and tried to get most of the dents out of the bottom. The back half of the boat takes the most hits and the further back you go the more hits. One of the best investments we made was getting an i...
