Re: Jacking ON

Commercial jackin is big biz. $6-8 / lb is not uncommon. Cat guys will travel several states with deep freezers rigged up in their truck beds when they know its automatic. I'm not sad to see the law passed.

Re: Where is the promised land?

No, East TN :D  :)

Actually Shawn still have that "Lake Striper Soup " map?

TN is blessed with 50+ lb opportunities from "coast to coast"

Looks like AL and VA are quickly gaining notoriety.

She'll have a ball pointing to that fish for years to come braggin' how she caught the biggest one. Great trip! A LOT of well respected soupers have skin hanging somewhere so don't sweat it. It's the meat hunters we all hate...

Re: Chick or Bar?

Cool. I know there's Monsters in both... Not many guys target them. I'd be the cats and stripes guy if I lived close. A guy named Ty from usca has been smoking them. Got an 87 lb flattie which he said would have been the state record? on video. Fished the Bar a few times for stripes but never been o...

Re: Chick or Bar?

Thanks

I don't know anything about the Chick but figured the Bar was better suited for a boat race. Huge cats are fired up on a pre spawn bite right now. Don't throw out that dead bait!

Chick or Bar?

There's a guy posting reports (with pics) of monster cats. Incredible days with fish up to 90 lbs and several over 70. I think he's either on the Chick or the Bar. Trying to figure that out. Said he got zoomed by 50 racing boats last Saturday the 11th. Anyone know if there was a boat race down that ...

Good point John - I have seen evidence of successful spawn. We never got a break it seemed last year but had some good days anyway. It's about time for you to migrate East - ill let you hold the camera! :D. Actually I think you pitched me to shame in the same stretch about the same time last year so...

High water techniques

Good topic to revisit...seems like more the norm for me the last couple years. I used to really hate high water but have learned to better adapt with 2 techniques. High water usually means 5-6 mph current and no sight of shoals or typical off bank structure. I've experimented with just about everyth...

Re: Mr Whiskers

Nothing wrong with that :!: :D It's rare to catch flats drifting but it's the premier method for targeting the blues (until the water temp drops). They'll nail live jacks too. I think a previous would be world record (not anymore) 125 lb fish came out of that water. Commercial netted fish don't coun...

The hell with skipjack - I want to use that for bait!!!

I'd love to hook into a Marlin - hell any bill fish would be sweet.

Maybe one day.... I need to "rove" myself out your way!

Bridling Baits for better hook-ups

I'm always looking to increase my hook up ratio. Seems like my landing the fish percentage is lower than most :( I'm sure after doing this a couple times you could get pretty quick and probably do less damage than going with a stinger on large baits. Anyone have experince doing this with large jacks...

I think Duayne was just adding another body of water (story) to the equation. I've heard others claim the same but highly douby it to be the case (LC). Ezell, that's what I wanted to know - didn't know if the spring hatch could have reached 10 inches already. With as wet as the spring was there shou...

successful spawn?

went skip jackin this weekend and couldn't keep the 8 inch striper off my jig. No doubt these were true stripes and not whites. Striper aren't stocked where I fished so I have to believe these were "native" fish or these little dudes covered some serious water. Anyone know how big the striper are be...

Those are monster gizzards for sure. I wouldn't stick any less than an 8/0 in the nose of one of them. 8/0 is pretty much my standard and I'll go as low as 5/0 bait size permitting....

My 4 year old gave it hell but was almost crying by the time she got this one in. She enjoyed her first ever 22 incher better... It whooped her so bad she didn't want to stop throwing rocks to reel in the next one. Bad day to leave the camera at home (damn camera phone pics) http://i253.photobucket....
