Yes sir, just a general carolina rig. No roll sinkers are a help in the current and you will need different sizes on hand depending on current flow. A long leader is not needed...something in the 1 ft to 16" range. You want your bait in the slack current areas. Another thing I pay close attention to...

Re: Muddy Water Stripers

We deal with muddy water a lot on the Chattahoochee. You can definitely still catch fish in the mud, but it can be finicky. There are stages within the mud and each stage can bring biting fish or none at all. The two times that I don't catch fish are when you find what I call silt clouds. This happe...

They'll just kind of hang out based on what I've seen in the past. It should prolong the river bite a little extra time when it's all said and done. It looks like a real warming trend next week and water temps should rebound in a day or two.

Re: 8 days in, alive and kicking!

Dusting off an old one here... We are now 1373 days in. A lot has changed since the beginning! It isn't uncommon for the store to break 2K on Saturday during spring/summer now. A bad day is 500. If we don't break 800 in shad sales on Saturday during the good season, something is wrong. Our one day ...

Re: 12-12-2015 Tims Ford - Pulling for Stripers

I hate trolling but your video(s) make me rethink this and very nice hybs! :salute: We are probably thinking the same thing! I've got the jigs and the rods. I do it in the spring with crappie with good results and I see no reason why our schoolies wouldn't tear a jig up. May give it a try in the ne...

Very nice!!! Think I am going to do some of that on West Point in the next few weeks. One of my shad catching spots usually loads up with crappie in November and I wouldn't mind putting a few in the freezer.

Almost 3 ft at West Point as well. That is a pretty good bounce for the lake and only about 2 ft shy of full pool. The water coming down the river is around 64..not really cold but muddy as heck. It will throw the folks for a loop that have been fishing the north end for a while.

The Hooch is rising hard in Atlanta. At or near "action" or "minor" flood stages at many stations on the river. The top end of West Point will should be shot for a bit once it all hits the lake. I've been watching the gauge from down the street from the house. 17,300 cfs. Higher than its been in ov...

Very nice. Is it as deserted as it looks in the pictures? Mike that section of the island is the state park. I believe it is about 12 miles of pretty much natural land. Only a campground and a couple of beach pavilions. It is so peaceful in the evenings. Every sound of nature you can imagine, birds...

St. George Island redfish 9-6 thru 9-13

Just got back from my annual trip to St. George. The fishing is always pretty good and this year was on par. The species count was down from normal (trout, macks, flounder) but I did spend the majority of my time targeting reds and that was the cause of the reduction. Fished a couple mornings but th...

Re: Blueback bust on Smith Lake AL

Interesting! I find it stupid/crazy that on West Point you can get a ticket if you are using them in the Alabama side of the lake. #1 the are legal in the other 95% of the lake that lies in Georgia. #2 I can/have thrown my net many times this year and pulled up dozens of bluebacks out of Alabama wat...
