In the pole vault, there are very few prodigy vaulters that start at a young age. However, for the ones that do, many coaches and vaulters alike consider it a major accomplishment to clear a height equivalent to or higher than your age. A 14 year old jumping 14 feet would be incredible just as an 18 year old jumping 18+ is equally a stud.

I think the same standard could apply to striper fishing :?: What do ya'll think? If your personal best fish weighs more than your age, I think you're doing pretty good.

Anyway, I'm 28 and pleased to announce that I joined the 30lb club this morning. Up until today I have fished primarily in areas where I have been told that the fish are. But, today I pushed myself and fished an area of a river that I have never heard of or seen anyone fishing before. Only person with me was my Dad. Feels good to find your own spot 8-)

That is a nice fish Michael. Cool dude; I know it feels great finding them on your own.

Not sure about your standard though, at 53+ it is going to be tough beating my age.

Awesome - certainly helps to live and fish in the land-o-plenty, but still a solid feat a lot of folks can't claim to have obtained - a really pretty fish right there! And doing it on your own in your own spot makes it even sweeter.

Congrats on the new milestone! That's a nice fish.
Your age formula is flawed, how high does a 51 year old pole vault, 10'?
My fastball tops out at 54 MPH, that's what my son threw at 10 years old. It sucks getting old

Haha! Thanks guys! And yes, the age standard eventually maxes out. I never had a chance in the vault. I started jumping at 16 years old. The highest I ever jumped was 17' 8.5" and I was 23 by then. World record in the vault is just over 20 feet. So I guess fishing can be my redemption  Always nice to have a goal :D

Mike is right. Its def. an advantage living in East TN. Plus it helps to have guys like Todd Asher, Nate Criswell, and Jeff Trembley in the area to learn from. Still waiting on the invite to join you Ezell 8-) and yes, I've got the skiff with the orange top.

See ya'll on the water
