My biggest striper on light line

Post by Sean Reynolds » January 8th, 2014, 2:13 pm

The biggest striper that I've ever caught wasn't all that big 26#s but I caught it on 4lb test. Pitching shad to the shore. I was using a 10' spinning rod. It was in March of the year so I was able to release the fish. Not near as big as some of the ones caught here but I am proud of it and it was fun! I'll try and dig up a pic.

That is pretty frickin huge on 4 lb line! My light line record was a 18 lb 12 oz fish I got on 4 lb on a trout rig below Ft Loudon. Took at least 15 mins to land with a pathetic Shimano TX 500. It holds 80 yds of 4.

My buddy landed one that was 26 lbs on 6 lb spinning one day when we were white bass fishing with little jerk baits. I'm not sure the fish ever knew it was hooked. :P

I had a good one on with one of those little reels once crappie fishing. Ran all my line out and snapped it before I even realized what was going on
